Unimaker Salford 2025

The University of Salford’s Maker Space plays host the Unimaker Conference on June 26th and 27th, 2025. Unimaker Salford 2025 is a two-day event featuring a diverse lineup of speakers, panel sessions, roundtable discussions, and an active marketplace showcasing maker projects.
The conference, “Innovative Learning Spaces: Unlocking the Impact of Maker Spaces,” will explore how makerspaces shape academic curricula, digital strategies, student engagement, and entrepreneurial mindsets. It will highlight key lessons from establishing makerspaces, their role in fostering collaboration, and their impact on both university communities and wider society.
We are very excited to welcome our inspirational speaker, Navjot Sawhney, who is the founder of The Washing Machine Project – a grassroots social enterprise in the UK to ease the burden of handwashing clothes for women in remote, low-income, and displaced communities by providing an accessible off-grid washing solution. We also welcome our keynote speakers Prof. Corrina Cory, Associate Professor in Engineering & Entrepreneurship at the University of Exeter and Dr Alejandro Veliz Reyes, Associate Professor in Digital Design, School of Art, Design and Architecture, University of Plymouth who will kickstart the Unimaker conversations.

What is UNIMAKER?
Unimaker was established by Professor Pete Mylon, Senior University Teacher in Multidisciplinary Engineering Education at the University of Sheffield. He leads the iForge Makerspace, the UK’s first student-led facility, and founded Unimaker to highlight innovation and skills in Higher Education makerspaces. The UniMaker Salfrod 2025 conference will share best practices while amplifying student voices and their experiences within maker culture and university strategy.
