Laser Cutting
Laser cutters are versatile tools, enabling users to precisely cut and engrave a diverse range of materials, from wood and acrylic to more unusual materials like cork and felt. Regular users include students on a number of courses such as Architecture and Architectural Design building cardboard and wood models, all the way to Fashion and Costume Designers cutting fabric ready for the sewing machine.
All of our laser cutters can be accessed from any PC in the Maker Space CAD suite, meaning you don’t need to stop working and move across the room to another computer in order to cut a job. This speeds up the prototyping process dramatically.
More sturdy, resistant materials can be cut more easily with our waterjet cutter.
CO2 Laser Cutters
We have three CO2 laser cutters in sizes ranging from the largest Fusion Pro 48 at 1200×900 mm down to the Zing 16 at 400×300 mm.
These machines are straightforward to use and can cut and engrave materials such as plywood, MDF, and acrylic.
Fibre Laser Engraver
This smaller machine can engrave materials such as stainless steel, titanium, aluminium, and more. With a rotary engraving attachment you are able to etch the sides of round objects like glasses and round machined components.
